Collective Agreements
CUPE 2338 (Facilities Management)
The CUPE 2338 bargaining unit was certified in 1980. It represents approximately 75 employees who work in Facilities Management in the trades, grounds, custodial, and security classifications.
The current collective agreement, signed in spring 2022, will be in place until June 30, 2025.
2025 Updates
May 2025: Mount ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ University received notice to bargain from CUPE 2338 on April 3, 2025. Both parties are currently preparing for collective bargaining. The University looks forward to engaging in discussions that reflect our shared commitment to the campus community.
CUPE 3433 — Mount ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Staff Association (MASA)
The CUPE 3433 (Mount ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Staff Association) bargaining unit was certified in 1990. It represents approximately 145 employees who work in the secretarial, clerical, and technical classifications.
The current collective agreement for this group, signed in spring 2022, covers the period from July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2025.
2025 Updates
May 2025: Mount ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ University received notice to bargain from CUPE 3433 Mount ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Staff Association (MASA) on April 3, 2025. Both parties are preparing for the upcoming collective bargaining process. The University looks forward to a collaborative approach at the bargaining table.
Mount ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Faculty Association (MAFA)
MAFA (full-time) — The Mount ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Faculty Association (full-time) bargaining unit was certified in 1982. It represents approximately 165 full-time faculty members, librarians, instructors and teachers. The for this group covers the period from July 1, 2024–June 30, 2027.
MAFA (part-time) — The Mount ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Faculty Association (Part-time) bargaining unit was certified in 2003. It represents approximately 60 part-time faculty members and teachers. The for this group covers the period from July 1, 2024–June 30, 2027.
2024-25 Updates
January 17, 2025: The collective bargaining process between Mount ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ University and the Mount ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Faculty Association (MAFA) has successfully concluded, with both parties having ratified the new Collective Agreements.
The agreements cover the period from July 1, 2024–June 30, 2027. A tentative agreement was reached on November 6, 2024. The University ratified the new agreements with MAFA on November 25 and MAFA members concluded their ratification on November 27, 2024.
Together, we celebrate this exceptional, meaningful outcome. Thank you to the bargaining teams for their dedication and effort throughout the process. The University remains committed to fostering an environment that supports the success of the entire University community.

November 12, 2024: A tentative collective agreement has been reached between Mount ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ University and the Mount ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Faculty Association (MAFA) for both full-time and part-time faculty members. Each party, in the coming weeks, will seek ratification from their respective stakeholders. Faculty members will receive information from MAFA on the details of the tentative agreements and the timing of a ratification vote. The University’s Board of Regents will review the agreements in a separate process. More information will be shared once the ratification processes have been completed.
June 2024: Mount ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ University and the Mount ÐÓ°É´«Ã½ Faculty Association began the collective bargaining process for new full-time and part-time collective agreements. The bargaining team representatives for both the full-time and the part-time collective agreements are:
